Intervista a ROMEA PONZA, che presenta ai lettori il libro “L’ARCOBALENO TRA IL SOLE E IL MARE – THE RAINBOW BETWEEN THE SUN AND THE SEA” ( Aletti Editore).

The Rainbow Between the Sun and the Sea”?

Romea Ponza - Molto direi.

Grazie.

TRADUZIONE DELL’INTERVISTA IN LINGUA INGLESE

WRITTEN INTERVIEW to Romea PONZA FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK
"L’ARCOBALENO TRA IL SOLE E IL MARE - THE RAINBOW BETWEEN THE SUNA AND THE SEA"

1) Let's start from the title, how come "L’ARCOBALENO TRA IL SOLE E IL MARE - The Rainbow Between the Sun and the Sea"? What are the recurrent themes, fundamental to you, in writing this collection?

As I explained in the preface of the book, I see in these elements, the rainbow, the sun and the sea, my origins, the elements of transformation of my soul and my ultimate goal, a possible awakening of conscience. The Rainbow Between the Sun and the Sea is a metaphorical reference to Naples, the city where I was born, in which the paradoxical coexistence of characteristics of a diametrically opposite nature is naturally integrated into a uniqueness and unrepeatability that only Naples has been able to maintain in time. Even the true human nature of each of us is unique and unrepeatable, but to be able to contact and manifest it we must start by accepting everything that resides in us with absolute objectivity and love for the truth. When we sink in the sea of our unconscious and, with courage, observe what therein fluctuates, while loving ourselves as we are, we give to all the colors of our rainbow, that is our Soul, the possibility to shine in a harmonious way and to heal those parts of us that need it, turning them again into light, the light of the Sun, experiencing them as wealth and resource and no longer as a deficit or lack: in practice we transmute our flaws and elevate ourselves. I know that my city has never completely healed, but it has acquired a philosophy of life that allows us to glimpse a transcendence between its opposite qualities that starts from not denying all the bad that there is while at the same time enjoying the good, which is precisely what makes it unique. I believe that having Neapolitan origins was a good starting point for me on my journey, it gave me a mental flexibility, a resilience that those dealing with spirituality know well to be decisive for the spiritual path.
Furthermore, in this monograph I invite people to meditate, in a joyful but never superficial way, on the "dark night of the Soul", on the meaning and the benefits of the darkest moments of life as a necessary transition phase to go deeply into ourselves and come out enriched and closer to our true nature and realization. Celebration and sharing are recurrent subjects in songs like “The Laughter” just to mention one; there are also many references to the Law of Resonance and to how useful it is to become aware of its effects, in order to understand why specific things happen to us and not others, and how much we ourselves can concretely change our lives for the better thanks to this understanding.
Freedom and breaking away from conventional schemes are two other recurrent themes.
The virtual connection between human beings and living in the heart as a condition for acquiring consciousness and awareness constitute the leitmotiv of all this.

2) How much did reality affect writing?

In all senses, I would say. Where directly or metaphorically, this is a collection that also includes my first poems, the ones I wrote for myself, starting about a decade ago, to make a catharsis and to give meaning and value to every situation. Poetry makes us love our experiences because, once written, it makes us transit into the role of spectators of what happens to us, coming to see its beauty and therefore to feel its essence and, in it, the connection with our neighbor.

3) Writing as a testimonial value, what did you want to save and keep from the neglect of time with this book of yours?

The timelessness and the controversial and at the same time sincere and frank spirituality of a city like Naples. Its atavistic ability to live in the heart which is now the condition for the beginning of a new era, the Aquarian era. Its ability not to give up. Its ability to go beyond appearances, to go deep, beyond the standards of the mind, even when everything seems to be different from our expectations, because life always manifests itself as it is and it is up to us to either choose to be enriched by the discovery of the alchemical world that lays underneath so to find a sense and a meaning to everything, or, rather, to give up without accepting the challenge of understanding how we ourselves are architects of our destiny, just for the fear of facing our shadows. And, through all this, I bring attention to how much spirituality and divinity is contained in everyday life, in what we take for granted and, yet, moment by moment, constitutes the web of our precious existence.

4) At the conclusion of this training experience that gave birth to the book "L’Arcobaleno Tra il Sole e il Mare – The Rainbow Between the Sun and The Sea" if you were to isolate episodes that you remember with particular favor how would you describe them?

A necessary passage, a path, a discovery, a surprise, a growth, a rebirth, a fortune both for the good ones and the bad ones. When unpleasant things happen to you, life is simply telling you to rely upon Her in the external matters and, at the same time, it is inviting you to look inside yourself; if you really do it, as I did, for example, through inner research and spirituality, a new world opens up to you, everything becomes an adventure. Sometimes it is hard, but you end up always being grateful, and when you begin to be grateful for everything that happens to you, pleasant or unpleasant, it means that you are on the right path, the path of autonomy and awakening.

5) What are your sources of inspiration: other authors that you consider fundamental in your cultural and sentimental education?

My interest in reading is markedly spiritual. To be spiritual means to be very aware of the fact that we manifest what we are in the concrete reality in the form of people and events with which we interact with: it takes a while to understand it but when we get there, we open ourselves to a new vision. Osho for me has been a great source of knowledge and inspiration, for his very simple and direct message that taught me both the inferior alchemy and the superior alchemy, that is to accept and welcome my shadow side in order to transmute it, and, at the same time, to always choose what is in harmony with my natural inclinations in order to savor life at every moment: and he has been able to convey to me that these two things go hand in hand and that they require us to be above and beyond conventions and social patterns in a first phase, to then also integrate them into a new harmony that stems from authenticity.
Once I absorbed his message, it was much easier for me to dedicate myself to reading a Krishnamurti, a Gurdjieff, the Bible itself, and other spiritual disciplines whose messages most of the time are not so clear. I found a lot of sense in the books and video-seminars by Salvatore Brizzi and Erica Francesca Poli, but also in those by Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden, Deepak Chopra, Fabio Marchesi, Igor Sibaldi, Giampiero Abbate, Emiliano Soldani, in web pages like Giuliana Conforto’s, Masaru Emoto’s, and many others .......

6) Are there other artistic disciplines, or artists, that have somehow influenced your writing?

Yes. I have always loved music and singing, two disciplines that have supported me even in the most difficult moments of my life. When I was a child, I used to consider artists on television as something unattainable and far from me, I used to see them as if on a sort of pedestal. Then I happened to work as an employee for an independent music label and, lately in my mature age, I have learned to play the first chords and to sing my first songs by taking some guitar and singing lessons just while other aspects of my life seemed to be collapsing, gaining a lot of benefit from it: I’ve come to know how to turn a crisis into an opportunity, the opportunity to understand who I am by doing the things I’ve always wanted to do, without expectations, just for the pleasure of doing them, by giving them a concrete space in my life.
My favorite singer, Alanis Morissette, has helped me understand myself better and feel supported by her original way of singing about herself in a cathartic way, just like I do. Her songs have a profound spiritual vein that instinctively and intuitively blends with my way of perceiving, knowing and "resonating" with life. I also dedicated a song to her because I feel a particular soul connection with her. When I wrote my first song in English “Sink In Your Soul”, I didn't mean to take inspiration from her, but those who listened to me singing it said that they saw a lot of this artist in my verses and in my way of interpreting them, so, later, I also tried to write more songs in English, deliberately inspiring myself to her, and out came “Comfort Zone”, “Pease Don’t Think I’m Gone” and the one I specifically dedicated to her “Second Wave Sister”, and, considering my small experience, I can feel pleasantly surprised and satisfied with my first creations.

7) In addition to the one you refer to in your book, which other literary genres do you prefer?

That of literature is a world I'm just opening up to now. I generally like both Western and Eastern spiritual essays, but I am also interested in psychology, neuroscience, epigenetics, biology and quantum physics that provide scientific support to the sacred teachings. I am particularly focused on everything that gives me deep esoteric and multifaceted knowledge of the Self and that helps me to understand who I am by simplifying spiritual messages, and by connecting them into a holistic vision of the whole spectrum of life manifestations.
Recently I’ve read the "The Sense of Being Stared At" by Rupert Sheldrake, a British biologist and philosopher, who explains how our mind extends outwards, beyond the brain, into mental fields that he calls "morphic and morphogenetic fields", in addition to gravitational, electric, magnetic and quantum fields already recognized by physicists. I was not surprised, since over time I had already discovered that I had a certain sensitivity in this sense, and that, without wanting to, I had already given ample testimony of it in my poems.

8) Do you prefer the traditional paper or digital book?

Being a kinesthetic, the contact with the book for me is fundamental. I like to use a pencil to underline in order to establish a connection between my whole being and the pages. The paper book is less tiring for my sight than a tablet screen and is more relaxing.
I am only sorry that the use of paper at an industrial level is one of the causes of deforestation. I hope to live soon in an era in which our superior abilities are fully developed, in order for us to access knowledge through our perfectly evolved higher centers, so to avoid the waste of paper and the consequences of computer electromagnetism (smile); now I smile at the idea, but I don't think this possibility is that far away. We live in a matrix of information and sooner or later we will be able to consciously access this field by discerning through awareness what is useful to us and what is better for us to let go, by using intuition and our own perfectly developed and integrated consciousness; they are natural faculties that can be acquired through correct meditation and through the study of the realm of the Soul, activities that determine their indirect flowering, as they are an integral part of our natural faculties.
Alternatively, I find video seminars to be very useful, since, by a Bluetooth headset, they allow me to listen to my favorite divulgators while I am at the gym or while I’m carrying out other practical tasks and to listen to them again and again to better assimilate the concepts.

9) To finish, what was your relationship with writing, during the composition of the book.

Lively. I was really excited about your proposal of publication and the idea of assembling a collection of my own, my little creation. In doing it, I was able to review all my older compositions and to see that I still see myself in so many situations and sensations, accepting also the idea of sharing something that until a few years ago I considered only mine.

10) A reason why you would buy "L’Arcobaleno tra il Sole e il Mare - The Rainbow Between the Sun and the Sea" if you hadn't written it.

There is more than one reason:
- Because it is alive and pulsating in representing my experience of inner integration: it comes from the simplicity of my way of being outside the box and expressing my originality, as well as from my depth and desire to know and go beyond the sense of separation : it stems from my joy and desire to celebrate and share and at the same time from my sadness and need for solitude. Depending on the interpretation, it can be at the same time a moment of introspection and a moment of leisure, it is for everybody, but not for “anybody”.
- Because being a contemporary writer I represent the evolution of poetry with all that the era in which I live brings. My poetic language is enriched with the typical lexical, virtual and telematic terms of this times, of a love that’s lived through electronic devices and of spiritual terms and meanings that date back to very distant times yet concern us closely, given the growing awareness of humanity being all interconnected and therefore also predisposed to communicate telepathically, if only we make ourselves more attentive to our mutual feelings, if only we make ourselves more empathetic. When you live in the heart this connection happens naturally, and the existence of the ancient way of saying "my heart is with you ... " proves it: but, many times, we are unaware of it because we are absorbed in our continuous thoughts, anxieties and worries. I know that many are skeptical about this affirmations, but my book, considering that I had never thought of publishing it and yet the circumstances have created to let it happen, evidently has come out to be a testimony; I believe that its time has come because according to quantum physics, if something is made available to everyone it means that the universal consciousness is prepared for it, it is energetically mature to receive it.
Not that I have supernatural powers, of course, but, by studying my Soul and spiritual subjects, I have likely refined my capacity of "feeling" and, usually, feeling, being it a personal experience that becomes a peculiar certainty for those who experience it, is not always possible to convey to others in conventional ways of communication, so, eventually, art can take over as an excellent instrument of expression and sharing, as in my case poetry.
- Because the time has come now that people know they are already spiritual beings and that, if they become aware of it, they can transform their lives by creating what they want in their daily lives instead of waiting for something to come from above. My city has a tradition of miracles, and that is ok, but its mentality of having to wait for everything to rain from the sky damages it tremendously, while now we could make a huge leap in awareness if each of us were aware of being able to make each one's own miracle by taking action and engaging personally, since we have all the tools and skills, thanks to our infinite creative ability. True spirituality is based on responsibility and concrete action, on service.
- Because if I were the public, I would see someone whom to "resonate" with and maybe feel understood, inspired and encouraged to do the things I always wanted to and never imagined of doing, like to publish my first collection of poems and join the game.
- Furthermore, my book, as you can see, has a second part which is the English translation of the first: if I were those who read me abroad, I would feel inspired to confront and connect myself with people of different cultures, or, specifically with regards to those who have the same Neapolitan origins as me and live outside my country, I would create a bond on the basis of spiritual values shared by every creed, reminding myself and them who we really are, wonderful Souls on the path.
- Last but not least in terms of importance, the artist who took care of the introduction is the famous Italian theater actor, director and poet Alessandro Quasimodo, son of the Italian literature Nobel prize Salvatore Quasimodo. In presenting this collection, he rightly points out how the yearning to go beyond the limits of the ephemeral and to investigate the abysses of the spirit, and, in so doing, favoring the call to universal values, has always existed in the great literature of all ages, in the literary language forms of each time, citing, in this regard, Petrarch and Saint Augustine in a connection of references to the soul and to the cosmic and universal laws that reaches down to Osho, for example.

11) Are you planning any other works to be written in the near future? If so, can you give us an anticipation?

- I have just written a small handbook, a short but exhaustive manual on transformative alchemy or "celebratory alchemy" as I call it, which explains from the multifaceted perspective of energy, alchemy, quantum physics, biology, neuroscience and pragmatic action the twilight moment we are living in now and how we can face it by freeing ourselves, and by starting to consciously create our reality, once we understand the mechanisms that underlie our limiting behavioral patterns.
It is a small, unpretentious and very direct summary of all my readings and my inner research gathered material and of what I have learned so far in terms of personal discovery and experience. Presenting it with the terms I have just used above may seem to give a very sophisticated picture of it, yet everything is described in a very simple, divulgative and understandable key to anyone who is open and feels ready to get to know themselves starting from the normal daily routine.
- I also have a new collection of recent poems ready, which I created after attending seminars and masterclasses of poetic writing, enriching my verses with the artistic experience and teachings of true masters in the field of poetry such as Mogol, Francesco Gazzè and Giuseppe Aletti.
Thanks
